Legal Counsel - Global Insurance Company - 1 yr contract

Our client is a dynamic and rapidly expanding Insurance/Reinsurance Broker that operates globally across all major lines of commercial insurance/reinsurance. An opportunity has now arisen for a commercially astute lawyer to join their legal team in central London on a 12 months FTC. There are good prospects the contract will then be renewed or become permanent.

• Working as part of a small in-house legal team, you will provide broad-based legal support to UK/global operations and will:
• advise broadly on a wide range of commercial/contractual matters and on corporate, employment, data protection, company secretarial, regulatory and insurance-related issues.
• advise on/manage/escalate disputes, complaints, proceedings or potential errors/omissions
• manage/coordinate external legal advice
• deliver/coordinate internal training
• support Risk, Compliance and Secretarial specialist in ensuring compliance.

A qualified (UK or Common law) lawyer, you are likely to have at least two years PQE, a good working knowledge of insurance, contract, employment and company law together with an understanding of the principal regulations governing the UK financial services industry.   This is a great opportunity to build your experience handling a broad portfolio of work at a dynamic Lloyd’s broker and to work as part of a small legal team under a highly respected GC. You should ideally be available to start within a month or so. The salary indicator is to c.£75k plus a range of benefits.
