My client is a global leading technology company, the role is based in Basingstoke, Fixed Contract (8-9Months)

Your new company

My client is one of the leading technology companies based in Basingstoke. They are currently looking for a General Counsel looking after their global projects.

Your new role

  • Lead, motivate and develop the global Legal function, establish objectives and priorities and ensure legal objectives are met
  • Manage the other international General Counsel and Contract Managers
  • Provide legal advice on high level corporate matters
  • Perform pre-litigation work to minimise risks and maximise legal rights
  • Support training initiatives and governance / compliance drives globally
  • Contract Support: preparation, interpretation and negotiating a number of commercial contracts for new business opportunities domestically and internationally
  • Company Secretary work including maintenance of UK statutory books and filing of all returns to Companies House as well as oversight of statutory compliance in all geographies
  • Provide general support including compiling and distributing a variety of high-level reports, both internally and externally
  • Manage various projects and deadlines, advise executives on contract status, legal risks and business terms of various deals
  • Provide assistance with strategic partnership deals and mergers and acquisitions
  • Research unique legal issues impacting the organisation by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, and codes.
  • Provide and coordinate legal and compliance training to the group, individually and through company Regional attorneys and Contract Managers on substantive legal topics
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect the company and its affiliates
  • Review advertising and marketing materials to ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Support executives in legal and compliance matters



What you'll need to succeed

  • A broad understanding of all aspects of commercial law, and international experience
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; second language would be useful
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to deal with problems in a pragmatic and logical way
  • Ability to lead, take responsibility and act autonomously including an ability to take difficult decisions and provide substantiated arguments
  • UK solicitor with post-qualified experience from major firms / brands and relevant company experience
