With the September 2019 qualifying round almost behind us, we begin to focus our attention on the March intake for 2020 NQs, where a number of elite firms in London are on a recruitment drive into their dispute resolution teams by seeking newly-qualified candidates to join upon impending qualification.
The firms in question range from elite US firms to prestigious City firms, including top-tier international and smaller more niche-focussed practices. These firms are unquestionably the strongest in the market, and they are looking for ambitious NQs that have undertaken a dispute resolution, commercial litigation, international arbitration or white collar crime/investigations seat during their training contract. Candidates are also expected to have a very strong academic background.
Working in one of these leading firms will provide junior dispute resolution lawyers with exposure to excellent, wide-ranging work in addition to close interaction with a diverse range of clients that will help to boost professional development and the potential for career progression.
While we are still at the very early stages of the process for this upcoming round of qualifiers, candidates qualifying in March (or April) of 2020 should already start considering external options, and many early-bird firms are already preparing for the NQ intake accordingly.
