OVERVIEW

Our client is a top tier UK law firm that has cemented its place as one of, if not the leading practice in Leeds. They are highly ranked in employment law in all the directories. Following a continuous phase of sustained growth in the office as a whole, the firm is now seeking a contentious employment lawyer to join them on a permanent, full time basis working for one of their biggest ticket clients exclusively. You will sit in a branch of the employment team who are dedicated to this one client in particular, and therefore wouldn’t need to support the wider firm in any of their other work. Given that this firm works on “high profile, top end” work, the work which flows out of the employment team or which the highly rated employment team generates itself, is absolutely top notch.

THE ROLE

The role will see the successful candidate become an integral part of the firm’s client team as an employment lawyer. You will act predominantly on the contentious side of employment law but not needed to support the wider firm in their corporate/commercial support work, nor needed to work on other client matters. The inner workings of the role will entail:

  • Employment tribunal litigation
  • Drafting and negotiating mass settlement agreements
  • Advising on grievance and disciplinary issues
  • Commercial and Common Sense approaches to issues

The work will be varied and complex and although it will invariably be contentious. You may be required to undertake some non – contentious as required

THE CANDIDATE

Candidates applying for this position should be able to display:

  • 0-2 years' PQE;
  • Experience of Employment law gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level
  • Sound academic background with a minimum 2:2 degree or equivalent
  • Experience of a client secondment or previous experience working in-house (ideal, not essential)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and legal technical skills; and
  • The ability to work to deadlines within a challenging environment and to work as part of a team, be confident, personable and self - motivated

SALARY

The firm offers an excellent salary package of around £33,000 and access to exceptional benefits throughout your career. Top of market rates, not to mention a fulfilling and rewarding workload. You’ll be working in a structured environment that offers extensive support, ongoing professional development and peer review.
