Multi-international technology company looking for Deputy Head of Legal (Mat Cover), based in Surrey

Your new role

Maternity Leave cover ( Temp - end date 31st December 2020)

• People/team management from a workload and evaluation/development perspective, provision of team vision and assisting the Head of Legal and Compliance with resource planning and team growth/recruitment.

• Briefing / reporting directly to Senior Management across the Europe Division including the European President and CFO

• Management of the delivery of advice on a range of legal practice areas as required by the Europe Office both from a contract/commercial perspective, as well as from a 'regulatory' perspective including: Competition Law; Data Protection (including close working with our European Data Protection Office and Global Privacy Office); Protection of Business Intelligence / Proprietary Information; Anti-bribery & Corruption; Advertising; Product Safety.

• Particular responsibility for the management of the Competition Law workload for Europe (with support from a junior Legal Counsel), facilitating the provision of bespoke EU and UK Competition Law advice, including in respect of sales and marketing strategies.

• As required, liaising with the European Commission (DG Competition) in respect of Investigations (including Dawn Raids) / Inquiries / Sector Inquiries / Requests for Information, as well as supporting European subsidiaries with National Competition Law Authorities as required. As required also liaising with other regulatory bodies to manage any investigatory processes that may arise. In each case, briefing Senior Management and HQ on progress and risk.

What you'll need to succeed

• At least 10 years PQE focusing on corporate commercial legal experiences
• Strong leadership skills, previously leading at least a team of 2-3 including qualified solicitors
• Strong academic background and previously trained from top city firm in London will be ideal
• Previous Inhouse experiences are essential
• Strong analytic and problem solving skills, Result driven
• Critical thinking and strong presentation and influence skills to the board room.
