IN-HOUSE: Corporate Oil & Gas Lawyer – International Commodities Company (2-5 PQE)

Our client is an international commodities company and is now looking to recruit a technically strong and commercially minded corporate lawyer with strong oil and gas experience.

The oil and gas legal team within this company is responsible for the management of all the E&P assets which are located internationally.  The team is now interested in speaking to mid-level corporate lawyers with demonstrable experience of working in the oil and gas space, ideally including upstream, mid-stream, and downstream matters.

The successful candidate will assist in the preparation, review and negotiation of a wide range of documentation across all functions of the team, including technical, finance, commercial, new business and procurement.

Experience of drafting, reviewing and negotiating at least some of the following documents will be advantageous: production sharing contracts, farm-in agreements, joint operating agreements, agreements with joint venture partners, tender procedures, drilling contracts and associated well services agreements, consultancy agreements, chartering agreements, construction agreements, seismic agreements, and commercial and trading arrangements.

Furthermore, a background that includes experience of drafting, reviewing and negotiating general corporate/M&A transactional documentation will also be of value and importance to the team.

The team will consider applications from lawyers with circa 2 to 5 PQE with corporate oil and gas experience gained from a leading private practice firm that is recognised for its expertise in this field. 

The team are also keen to hear from lawyers who are currently practising in-house, particularly if they have directly transferable experience from the oil and gas sector.

The successful candidate will have strong academics and ideally will have trained and qualified at a Magic/Silver Circle, international or leading US firm in London.

They will be able to show a strong commitment and clear desire to join a vibrant and dynamic in-house team, display a good knowledge of the oil and gas sector, and a keen willingness to undertake international trips for business needs.
