CLIENT

Our client is a successful global energy business with over 13,000 employees and turnover approaching £35 billion.  They are involved in all elements of the production, supply and trading of energy. A recent deal has added a large portfolio of renewable energy assets to those already owned by the company. They are committed to becoming carbon neutral and moving away from more traditional energy sources. Based in Central London they offer a modern approach to working, an extremely good work / life balance and a genuinely supportive team environment.

POSITION

The successful candidate will have a varied workload with a focus on financing the deals that the company is working on.

They can expect to work with deal teams covering physical and financial energy matters.

They will be expected to work closely with development teams, traders and operators on all aspects of the supply and trading of commodity products.

This will also include but is not limited to drafting and negotiation of documents, including ISDA’s, EFET’s and GTMA’s, structuring transactions, managing disputes, advising senior members of the business on “live” issues and liaising with external advisers and counsel.

CANDIDATE
 

The ideal candidate for this role will have spent time working on a top ranked Project Finance team and be familiar with both financing documents and transaction management.

This team has a track record in successfully training and mentoring new joiners so can bring people with other work experience up to speed. Candidates with an enthusiasm for the energy sector, a contentious background and little finance experience will be considered.

However, ideally you will have covered either energy project finance, corporate or commercial energy matters.

You will be Common law qualified with 2+ PQE and an ability to work autonomously whilst still being part of a global legal team of 45 lawyers.

In-house experience on a secondment or permanent basis is a plus.
