Legal Counsel is sought by FTSE listed engineering company in Surrey to focus on anti-bribery and corruption matters. Lawyers who have joined the team preciously have come from litigation or other areas of the law - so don't let a lack of experience put you off! This role is best suited to Solicitors with experience of conducting litigation, providing anti-bribery and corruption advice, providing training and conducting compliance investigations. Our FTSE listed engineering client is currently recruiting for a Anti-Bribery & Corruption Lawyer (Legal Counsel) to join its Compliance & Regulation team in Surrey. This position is open to qualified lawyers from a variety of backgrounds including those with a background in litigation or of course those with experience of providing anti-bribery and corruption advice.
The main responsibilities for this role include: conducting compliance investigations; providing advice, training and regular reviews in respect of anti-corruption policies; providing advice and assistance in respect of the compliance aspects of proposed M&A transactions; ensuring compliance with regard to the appointment, management and payment of third party Advisers; managing claims; helping to facilitate uniform global operating systems; helping drive leadership, engagement and ownership of world class ethics and standards; and assisting with the development and oversight of robust compliance programmes throughout the Group.
Individuals applying for the position of Anti-Bribery & Corruption Lawyer (Legal Counsel) will ideally have existing international anti-bribery and corruption experience. However, due to the specialist nature of such work, our client is open to considering applications from individuals with transferable skills and experience, and an interest in undertaking an anti-bribery and corruption role. This could come from working in litigation, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance and/or an international M&A environment however you should have gained this experience at a leading national or international law firm or equivalent in-house department. A passion for, and commitment to, promoting ethical business conduct is essential.
