The role of the Business Affairs department is to provide commercial advice and legal services to all departments within Aardman, including: marketing, IP development, production, feature films, licensing, merchandising, digital and commercials. The Department also advises on protecting the company’s intellectual property rights and brands.
As part of the team, this role will play a key part in assisting the Digital department with general IT agreements and the Rights team with licensing and distributing content owned by Aardman or licensed from third parties. The role will also have responsibility for managing Aardman’s trademark portfolio.
For this role, we’re looking for a lawyer with ability to draft and negotiate commercial agreements whilst working under pressure and managing your own workload and build good internal relationships. Experience of IP law and an interest in media law would be desirable.
Applicants should have experience of licensing and acquiring property rights. You’ll also be commercially astute with a grasp of the opportunities to fully utilise our products across all media.
Applicants should have great communication, presentation, problem-solving and negotiation skills, together with the ability to work effectively under pressure using your own initiative. You should be a highly motivated, proactive self-starter, with a positive and flexible approach to work.
In November 2018, Aardman became an Employee Owned organisation, ensuring that the studio remains independent and securing the creative legacy and culture of the company for the future.
Aardman is committed to building a culturally diverse workforce and therefore strongly encourages applications from underrepresented groups. We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all individuals, regardless of their background.
