IT/Outsourcing Transactions "a career path that suits" 4-6 PQE

As a senior IT/Outsourcing/Data lawyer career decisions can be hard. Our client recognizes that all legal careers are not the same, and Partners will work with associates to ensure they have a range of career options beyond just pushing towards Partnership.

Our client is one of the world's leading firms. Their market-leading TMT/Outsourcing team advises on major transactions for major clients, across outsourcing (BPO and ITO), cloud computing, AI, blockchain, big data, IoT, automation, machine learning, and fintech. They also advise on IT systems procurement, development and licensing, sourcing strategies and alternative contracting models, data privacy, information governance, including cyber security, digital transformation models, business service transformation projects and transactional and advisory work in the TMT and Digital sectors.

Partners in the team understand that their team works hard, and care about their happiness and career aspirations. They foster a collegiate atmosphere, the team works closely together and colleagues "have each other's back". Although offering a wide range of TMT and digital-focused services, Associates are encouraged to pursue their own sector specialisms. The team (and firm) have fully embraced agile working, and Associates are encouraged (and resourced) to work in a way which works for them. Perhaps more unusually the firm (and particularly the firm's TMT group) is heavily invested and leading the charge in the legal profession's digital transformation. There will be opportunities for candidates to explore this route if it is of interest.

In this context, and due to consistent and growing client demand, they are now looking for additional mid-senior level Associates on both a permanent and interim basis. They are looking for experienced Associates who are capable of leading on technology, outsourcing and commercial deals. There would also be an opportunity to lead M&A/JV TMT deals if that were of interest to the successful candidate.

Key responsibilities:

In order to be successful in your application, you will be expected to lead and negotiate technology and outsourcing transactions with limited supervision. You will also be responsible for drafting discrete pieces of legal advice for clients, and encouraged to adopt a client-facing role and supervise/develop more junior Associates and Trainees

Qualifications required:

• 4-6 PQE - whatever the PQE in this range, you will be the lead Associate on most transactions you work on;
• TMT and Outsourcing experience probably gained from a leading private practice law firm (in-house candidates or candidates from outside of London would be considered too);
• Excellent academics; and
• The ability and drive to work on bespoke, big-ticket and complicated transactions;
