Information Data Privacy – Central London – Senior Lawyer
Our Client is a very profitable, well-run UK practice with massive ambition that has almost trebled its turnover in the past few years, making it a Top 200 law firm. They are now looking to add to their London office, with the appointment of a senior lawyer.
The Firm
Spread over three locations in the South and London, the firm covers a full spectrum of legal services, representing clients both in the international and regional markets. Further growth is planned and we are now looking for an experienced Data Protection Solicitor to head the firms department over three locations.
The Team and Opportunity
It is in this context of excellence and ambition that our Client is looking to recruit an exceptional, senior Information and Data Privacy lawyer to take the lead on advising their commercial clients on all aspects of data protection. The client base for this area of law has hugely diverse needs, not least due to the international jurisdictions they might operate across, leading to significant complexity. Currently, a multi-disciplinary team (including experienced Employment, Commercial, and Regulatory lawyers) successfully handles the firms high volume of matters.
The Candidate
This is a unique development role, offering the successful candidate the opportunity of a lead role within the firm, with a focus on building this practice area. As such you will exhibit an entrepreneurial approach and have the desire to drive the development of this practice area. Excellent business development skills are essential to this role, to market existing capability in this area and grow the client base.
Specific experience should include; investigations by the Information Commissioner's Office; international data transfers, both within and outside the EU (including the use of the European Commission’s approved Model Contract Clauses and binding corporate rules); data audits; data protection impact assessments and legitimate interests assessments; breach management and data security; dealing with individual rights (including Subject Access Requests and the Right to be Forgotten); marketing to individuals (including electronic marketing and e-privacy); data sharing (including outsourcing arrangements); employee monitoring (including the use of overt and covert CCTV/surveillance and the interception of electronic communications); and data analytics.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to join an ambitious, TOP 200 law firm and take their career to the next level. For more information, please call Marc Jones on 020 7813 6298, or 07545 641 832. Alternatively, email marc@onelegalrecruitment.co.uk.
