My client, a growing FTSE 250 investment trust and professional services firm, is looking to hire a Head of Legal, Risk and Compliance. An established business with a new senior management team in place with a mandate to grow, they have now identified a need for a senior lawyer to join the business. This person will be a trusted advisor to the CEO/CFO and business unit heads.

The ideal candidate will be a senior lawyer with at least eight years' post-qualification experience with a good city law firm background. My client is open on the skill-set of the candidate given the wide-reaching nature of the role here (across corporate, commercial, regulatory and compliance) but the successful individual will ideally have some financial services exposure and what is crucial is a commercial mind-set and willingness to work in a fast-growing and small business environment.

The responsibilities of the successful candidate will involve keeping abreast of all legal, regulatory and compliance developments across the group, take responsibility for best practise implementation. They will have oversight of all legal contracts entered into across the global business, act as a member of the group Risk Committee and provide general advice to the CEO, CFO and business heads on all manner of matters connected to the business.
