Job Details

Our well regarded client is looking to recruit an exceptional, senior Information and Data Privacy lawyer to take the lead on advising our commercial clients on all aspects of data protection. This exciting role would enable the successful lawyer to have access to the leading clients of the firm and they would be enabled to develop their practice and build internal as well as external relationships.

The clientbase of the firm for this area of law has hugely diverse needs, not least due to the international jurisdictions they might operate across, leading to significant complexity. Currently, a multi-disciplinary team (including experienced Employment, Commercial, and Regulatory lawyers) successfully handles a high volume of matters.

This is a hugely exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join the team, with a focus on building this practice area and growing the client's reputation for information and data privacy legal services.

They are looking for a senior lawyer to lead their existing information and data privacy practice area. As such, the ideal candidate will have a following but this is not essential. The successful lawyer will exhibit an entrepreneurial approach and the desire to drive the development of this practice area.

You will have experience of:

· planning a business development strategy and budget; and

· delivering business development activities, including designing and running bespoke training, speaking at conferences and writing thought leadership papers.

It is essential that you have the technical ability to bridge Employment, Regulatory and Commercial related information and data privacy enquiries.

You will have relevant, recent experience of responding to queries and investigations by the Information Commissioner's Office, and expert knowledge and experience of:

· International data transfers, both within and outside the EU (including the use of the European Commission's approved Model Contract Clauses and binding corporate rules);

· Data audits;

· Data protection impact assessments and legitimate interests assessments;

· Breach management and data security;

· Dealing with individual rights (including Subject Access Requests and the Right to be Forgotten);

· Marketing to individuals (including electronic marketing and e-privacy);

· Data sharing (including outsourcing arrangements);

· Employee monitoring (including the use of overt and covert CCTV/surveillance and the interception of electronic communications); and

· Data analytics.

the client will also expect the successful candidate to have excellent skills in drafting and reviewing regulatory documents, including:

· Privacy Notices;

· Data protection impact assessments and legitimate interests assessments;

· Commercial contracts (including data processing agreements and binding corporate rules);

· Policies (including data protection policies, CCTV policies and data retention policies); and

· Websites and marketing materials (including cookie notices, layered notices/consent and terms and conditions).

This is a fabulous opportunity for a lawyer to lead the team and spearhead it's growth, expansion and success.
