This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced environmental / energy lawyer to join ClientEarth's Energy Programme, working on legal issues concerning the energy transition in Turkey. The overall goal of the Energy Programme is to accelerate the global transition to a clean, flexible and competitive energy system.

There will be a strong emphasis on working with civil society within Europe and beyond, providing strategic legal input and developing new legal strategies based on energy and environmental law, with a particular focus on the Turkish energy system and legal framework. The lawyer will participate in a range of external networks, as well as collaborating with lawyers across our Energy, Climate and Clean Air teams.

The role is based in ClientEarth's London, Brussels or Berlin offices, and will report to the Coal Lead (based in London). There will be some expectation of travel.

Role requirements

The successful candidate will be an experienced environmental / energy lawyer, ideally with Turkish legal experience and Turkish language skills. We would only consider candidates without Turkish experience / language in exceptional circumstances if they could nonetheless demonstrate their ability to perform the role. A strong commitment to securing the energy transition is essential.
