Senior Employment Lawyer (8+ yrs.) for Global Financial Services Organisation, London

Our client, an innovative and aquisitive financial services conglomerate, that has established investment banking, brokerage and real estate arms, is now looking for a senior employment lawyer to join their legal team.

This is an exciting role that offers the successful candidate a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious employment work that spans the business’ operations in the UK, Europe and to a lesser extent APAC.

The role will primarily involve:

• Working closely with senior management and HR teams to ensure they understand the employment legal obligations in each jurisdiction and can make informed commercial decisions; 
• Advising internal clients and business teams to minimise employment legal risks faced by the organisation;
• Managing employee litigation, and providing advice on employee relations issues;
• Drafting bespoke employment documentation and contracts.

Once in the role, the successful candidate will have the responsibility of managing a junior employment lawyer and will occupy a key, visible role across the organisation.

More broadly, we are looking for lawyers with:

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in employment law gained in private practice and ideally in-house;
• In-house experience in a financial services organisation would be a bonus but is not a pre-requisite;
• Experience of contentious employment work at both the Employment Tribunal and High Court level;
• The ability to recognise reputational issues promptly and escalate appropriately;
• Commercial awareness, as well as someone who is proactive and can think outside of the box.
