OVERVIEW 
Due to ongoing success, our client is currently to recruit a newly qualified Lawyer to join their market leading international TMT practice in Manchester.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a NQ - 2 years' PQE Solicitor to join a dynamic and rapidly expanding global law firm that has long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality legal advice.

THE FIRM & ROLE
When you join this firm you are joining a firm with a formidable reputation regionally, nationally and internationally. The team itself is lauded. They are nationally regarded as one of the best and their knowledge and expertise are the reasons they stay ahead of the curve. The role will be specialising in technology with a particular focus on data (data projects, data protection and GDPR) and duties will include;

  • Advising on a full range of data privacy matters, including regulatory compliance, privacy impact assessments, data subject requested, contract remediation, GDPR compliance programs and trans-border data flows;

  • Assisting with business development activities in order to win new clients and to win data work from existing clients - this will involve attending and speaking at conferences and writing articles as well as cementing existing relationships; and

  • Assisting with data protection in a contractual/transactional context  for example cloud procurements and other similar matters in a contractual context  - a proportion of time will be spent on drafting and negotiation; this may include an element of IT drafting more generally, but with the focus being primarily on data protection and privacy work.

THE CANDIDATE 
As a successful candidate you will be a a pro-active and forward thinking newly qualified - 2 years' lawyer who can demonstrate experience in a large IT/commercial practice, specialising in data protection and IT matters. An excellent academic achievement with a minimum 2:1 degree and excellent communication, organisation and legal technical skills is essential. Experience of FOI would be a bonus but is not essential.
