The University’s Director of Legal Affairs wishes to recruit an additional lawyer to the team, which along with the University’s Contracts Team, is responsible for all the University’s legal affairs.

The University Lawyer will handle a range of matters alongside the existing lawyers, covering a wide, varied and interesting field that includes student matters, legal risk and compliance; regulatory matters; charities law; information security and governance; and contentious matters.

You will develop excellent relationships with colleagues at all levels of the University to support best practice and client training and provide a flexible and proactive legal resource, including instruction of external lawyers when necessary.

You will have a legal qualification (Solicitor or Barrister), be qualified to practice in England and Wales and will be presently working within private practice, the public sector, Higher Education or in the private sector in-house. Experience gained of the Higher Education sector would be an advantage, although is not essential.
