Your new company
My client is a physical commodities trading arm of a larger group. This arm of the business was set up over 4 years ago with a growing headcount of 3 people to over 150 worldwide in a short space of time. This growth is set to double over the next few years with large expansion planned by the company to cater for its clients. My client specialises within emerging markets trading oil and gas and soft commodities such as Wheat, rice and pharmaceutical products to hundreds of jurisdictions across the world.

Your new role
My client is seeking a bright junior trading lawyer to support the legal team within the London office. You will draft and negotiate commodities sale and purchase agreements for soft and petroleum products. You will draft and negotiate logistic contracts such as storage agreements, SMAs and CMAs and surveying and inspection agreements, rail and port agreements. You will also have a strong grasp of trade finance and experience reviewing documents such as letters of credit and lateral credit facilities. You will ideally have some understanding of shipping of physical cargoes. You will ideally have an interest in emerging markets and have some understanding of the issues of moving cargo in and out of these jurisdictions.


What you'll need to succeed
You will be ideally a UK qualified lawyer or common law jurisdiction with 2-5 years of post-qualified experience within physical commodities trading. You will ideally have in-house experience and looking for a step up in responsibility which this role will offer in a small legal team.
