COMMERCIAL (BOUTIQUE FIRM)
Our client is a boutique firm focused entirely on an interesting and high profile client sector which they service across Leeds, London and internationally - they might be compact in size but they've got a big profile.
To work closely with a Partner they want to appoint a Solicitor at c5yrsPQE+ to handle a mix of Commercial work, including data protection and privacy advice as well as mainstream contracts and agreements. Any lawyer here will be working with interesting clients on matters which are frequently of high profile and occasionally of media interest, and there will be some UK travel with the role. One thing that stands out about this firm is how much the personnel enjoy what they do - it is a fun and relaxed environment and that culture is something they are very committed to retaining.
Because the firm has work and doesn't need a client following then suitable candidates could be coming from a commercial firm or in-house legal background, the key trait is having the technical skills on mixed Commercial work. The firm will introduce you to their clients and their sector and you'll be encouraged to establish your client relationships but they're not expecting you to break new ground.
Vital for this appointment to work is that you will be enthusiastic about your career, you will enjoy client contact, and you must be keen to be part of a smaller operation for all the benefits that come with that. This firm have a genuine work-life balance - late hours are not a regular expectation. They enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, casual dress code, and make sure that staff welfare, holidays and time away from the office are high on their agenda.
This is a sociable sector with some good fun networking to be part of, and there might be scope for occasional overseas travel as well as attending clients around the UK. This firm is a market leader in its sector but if you are a candidate who wants a big brand then this is not the opportunity for you. Rather it'll appeal to someone who see's the negatives of big brands and would rather be more involved in a smaller set up.
A great opportunity for any lawyer tired of life in a larger commercial firm and who wants to try somewhere different, somewhere enjoyable and with realistic expectations of its staff, but who wants to be confident that expertise is still at a high level.
Brooke Thornham Consulting advertisements use PQE levels purely as a guide to the level of experience required for the role and this does not prohibit applications from candidates who are able to demonstrate the necessary skills and experience. We aim to respond to enquiries as soon as possible but if we have not contacted you within 5 days then unfortunately on this occasion your application has not quite met the requirements of our client closely enough.
