You will be part of a larger legal team, within this £1.4 billion turnover company who currently stands at over 56 schools and staff. They are growing from strength to strength with new acquisitions on the horizon.

You will support the growth of the group through execution of the M&A, greenfield developments and in school expansion, providing operational support to the regions of China, Middle East & South East Asia. By acting as the first point of legal contracts for regional and school leadership teams for the Regions. You will be in direct contact with the Chief Legal officer and in communication with the Corporate Development development director, regional managing directors, school principal, China legal counsel and corporate finance teams.

You will be based in their newly HQ London office; however, it is essential that you possess Mandarin Verbal and written communication skills. Due to the Business nature of the position, focusing on M&A, it is essential you can communicate commercial in Mandarin. Furthermore, experience in either training or in one point of time undertaken legal matters in Singapore or Shanghai is desirable due to the complexity of the legal system. It is desirable you are a PRC qualified lawyer due to the location of the matters.

The Role

This is a brilliant opportunity for a Regional Counsel to join this company in their Headquartered state of the art of office in London.

You will be the Regional Counsel for the China, Middle East and South Asia regions where your responsibilities will include managing relationships and engagement with external lawyers and other service providers. You will be the lead and manage all corporate development projects including M&A, Greenfield/brownfield development and construction.

You will be handling operational matters for relevant schools and regional offices ensuring all legal transactions comply with group policies. Managing and guiding of more junior staff of the team and identifying ways to improve workflow.

This position will suit either a Corporate Solicitor or a Corporate Real Estate Solicitor with experience in Land acquisition due to the nature of the work.

The Requirements

  • You will be a Corporate Solicitor or Corporate Real Estate Solicitor with over 7 years PQE experience
  • You will be a qualified Solicitor (International qualification will be supported with sponsorship if required) (I.e. UK or USA or any other jurisdiction)
  • You will be a qualified PRC lawyer (Desirable)
  • Prior experience within a Magic Circle or large International practice.
  • To be based from the London office.
  • Mandarin speaking (Essential)
  • This position is negotiable depending on the experience and will come over an industry-leading package.
