Commercial Lawyer for Global Asset Manager, 6 month contract, City

Our client is a global leader in the asset management sector, based in the City.

Due to an increased volume of work across the legal team, we are now looking for a lawyer to assist the Institutional Legal team for a period of 6 months.

We are open as to the level of the lawyer, from 2 year’s PQE upwards.  If you are a more senior lawyer and therefore perhaps above the budget for this role, our client may consider working on a part time basis 3/4 days per week in order to fit in to their budget range.

You may come from a law firm or another in-house team, and be available now or at short notice to start asap.

In this role you will work closely alongside the Head of Legal UK and support the institutional asset management business.  From time to time you will also be expected to assist with other general legal in-house work and projects.

What will the role involve:

• Reviewing, negotiating and drafting general commercial/IT agreements - experience in this area is essential for this role;
• Research projects, especially in the area of regulation (SMCR, Brexit etc.);
• Preparing board memos;
• Assisting the legal team with other ad hoc projects as they arise.

It would be useful if you have worked in another asset manager or financial services company so you are familiar with working in-house and the current regulatory landscape.

You will form part of a small, very cohesive and well-respected legal team.  You will be expected to be adaptable, with a ‘hands-on’ approach, a self-starter and be able to think on your feet.
