Head of Transactional Legal
Oodle Car Finance is changing the way people buy cars, by putting customers’ needs front and centre of the biggest retail market in the UK. It is bringing the used-car market up to date by building modern, digital, retail processes around what the customer actually needs. Although it primarily provides loans for its customers and links them up with some of the UK’s best car dealers (in one rapid, blink-and-you-miss-it, digital procedure), that is just the start. Oodle’s ultimate goal is to make buying a car as easy as buying a t-shirt on Amazon.
Reporting to the Group General Counsel, the Head of Legal is a key leadership appointment and will be an integral part of the company’s growth strategy. Rarely is there such an opportunity for a securitisation/capital markets lawyer to utilise their core skills in a stretching environment that prides itself on disruption. They can expect a diet of multiple securitisations, equity raising and restructuring and extensive corporate work over the next few years - working to an engaged and imaginative CEO. In this role fit-for-purpose financing is key to the success of the whole enterprise - and so the successful candidate will be valued for their input, their advice and their transactional prowess and have close relationships across the Executive.
In addition to the primary need for securitisation/capital markets transactional expertise, the successful candidate will bring strong leadership to the legal function and be responsible for everything that does not fall under the remit of Regulatory, Consumer Credit and Data Protection. Oodle’s growth curve - plus its ambition not just to change the face of car finance but of the whole market for car buying - means that corporate, commercial, employment, IP, real estate and technology work will be fast paced and framed by the desire to think differently and to disrupt. This is not “business-as-usual”.
The Head of Legal will be a driven leader, with experience of developing and building teams, a true business partner and people manager. Striving to challenge convention and develop an award winning transactional legal team.
