It is an exciting time in Tower Hamlets and a great opportunity to join the Council and help shape its future.  Tower Hamlets has an established Lexcel accredited Legal Team that provides services to the Council across the full range of its functions. We strive to provide excellent services and pride ourselves on the exciting variety of high quality work that we undertake in-house.  We have recently restructured our service to increase resilience, better align with the Council’s functions, and are now looking for highly competent, enthusiastic and motivated professionals to join the team. 

Flexible working is available including working from home for part of the working week.

Key Responsibilities

You will be one of a team of lawyers in our busy Contracts team providing support to central procurement and service areas for the Council’s purchasing.  The work is varied and challenging and you will have the opportunity to broaden your skills.  You will be accustomed to using JCT and other types of construction contracts and the provision of advice on Contract and Procurement. 

You will be able to demonstrate an in depth knowledge of the legislative framework. You will have good drafting and analytical skills and be accustomed to working at pace. 

Requirements

You must be a Qualified Solicitor/Barrister or Fellow of CILEX and hold a Practising certificate.
