Legal Director - Land and Acquisitions

One of the UK's leading house builders is looking to grow it's legal function with a senior hire.

Although there are numerous lawyers and legal support based across the UK this is a new role for a lawyer to join at an exciting time. Working at Director level you will advise upon and have direct responsibility for land acquisitions, options and promotion agreements. Working in a role that will see you being more than 'just a lawyer'. Your previous experience in this field will see you problem solving as well as working on a range of high value and high profile acquisitions, strategic land opportunities, regeneration projects and an element of commercial developments.

As the primary legal contact you will be on hand to offer first line advice and have direct responsibility for all transactional work albeit assisted by a team of lawyers who you will need to manage and mentor.

Within the Land & Acquisition function of the legal department you and your team will be involved with the following:

- Affordable Housing Sales on a turnkey/golden brick basis;
- Planning Agreements;
- Joint Venture Agreements;
- Legal Charges;
- Post completion work;
- Management Agreements and Transfers;
- Site Title Due Diligence
- Site set ups;
- Related finance documents
- Infrastructure Agreements

In addition the management team/ board members are looking for an individual who can 'add value' to the business. In practice this will be someone that can mix with the various disciplines within the organisation, be creative in finding solutions to problems and be able to work to deadlines with internal stakeholders.

This is a role that requires a lawyer with strong academics, strong development experience, especially in acquisition and options, with a can-do and hands on attitude.
