This nationwide firm has a wide range of clients throughout the UK with many clients having strong international connections. We have over 150 partners and more than 800 members of staff in total.

Our client base reflects our nationwide strength and our nationwide service delivery. We are committed to continuous improvement and our increasing success as a business is built on achieving success for our clients. We work in close partnership with clients, providing positive, practical solutions and clear, comprehensive advice.

Our aim is to attract and retain the most talented people, and part of this is providing a great place to work. So, to support fairness and equality and to encourage a healthy work-life balance, we continually monitor and improve our benefits.

We are proud that what we have achieved has been recognised over the past few years, being awarded Best Companies star status on a number of occasions and have featured in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For. We are also a silver standard accredited Investor in People Company, which means we are recognised for our efforts to improve work place engagement, leadership, personal growth, wellbeing, team working and our impact on society.

The role of the PSL is to support their practice group's and the firm's KM initiatives to enhance the group's quality of know-how, and its efficiency and profitability in line with its business objectives. The role reports to the Director of Knowledge Management, with 'dotted line' reporting to the Head of Group to align the KM activities to the group's needs.

We are looking for an experienced PSL to join the team based in either Nottingham or Oxford. Ideally candidates will be 7yrs + PQE within Private Client.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drafting, reviewing, maintaining and updating precedents, practice notes, checklists, toolkits, clause banks and all other forms of know-how documents required by the practice group
  • Facilitating the collection of useful know-how from fee-earners in the group, reviewing this and making it available for sharing around the group (via the KM system mentioned below and via other appropriate methods for the group)
  • Working with the Director of Knowledge Management and the wider Knowledge team to develop and maintain a comprehensive, accessible firmwide KM system, on which all practice group know-how is maintained. The PSL is responsible for structuring, classifying, and maintaining all their practice group know-how on the system and for working with the Director of Knowledge and the Knowledge team to define and improve the infrastructure and functionality of the KM system on an ongoing basis
  • Working with the Library and IS team to identify the external knowledge resources (legal and business-based) required by the group
  • Developing with the Director of Knowledge Management structured and other relevant legal training for all members of the practice group to ensure that they are skilled to the highest levels of competence and practice for their roles. The role may involve delivery of training depending on the requirements of the group
  • Facilitating and leading know-how meetings and other knowledge sharing activities, such as project debriefs, to ensure that key knowledge areas, new developments and the practical knowledge and experience of the group's fee-earners are shared amongst them
  • Providing practically based, supplemental alerts to the group, that do not replicate the current awareness alerts available from external resources, but which highlight important developments and the practical implications for fee-earners that flow from them
  • Assisting fee-earners with technical queries and helping them use the firm's knowledge resources to carry out their own research
  • Assisting with knowledge related BD and other client-facing KM activities
