HEAD OF ENERGY, to £900,000
The energy practice is steeped in the history of this elite international firm. There are a number of leading individual lawyers and the respective energy teams are listed as market leaders in a number of global directories.
Lawyers in 12 offices practise across all areas of the energy sector - oil and gas, LNG, mining, energy regulation, wind, solar, and nuclear, all of which then overlap with infrastructure projects. The group has undertaken a number of European projects, but the majority of the work is in emerging markets and with a strong African focus. The firm also works on both the sponsor and lender side.
Due to a very inclusive equity partnership structure, the firm has properly integrated its global teams by working collaboratively (rather than in competition). This is particularly relevant to the energy practice.
Surprisingly, there is a gap in the global energy team in London and the firm is looking to hire a lead partner or immediate team, with emerging markets energy experience and ideally, with intermediate French language skills to help exploit the firm’s leading francophone client base. The firm is looking to build a fully supported energy practice, as opposed to a ‘one-man-band’ practice, so as the leader you will also be instrumental in the selection of the team.
The overall following requirement is a modest £750,000 to £1 million plus, as the partners would like the new lateral to have capacity to pitch with the global energy team to both new and existing clients. A London team will significantly strengthen the firm’s overall global offering, in addition to providing an exciting offering to its existing clients.
