Job Details
Our client is a leading independent regulator responsible for promoting high-quality corporate governance. They now wish to hire an experienced Lawyer to advise on legal and governance issues and managing all FOIA (Freedom of Information) matters. The role will involve making regulatory and operational decisions and to take a leading role in continuing to build and shape the FOIA team. The Role
You will work under the supervision of the General Counsel and have full responsibility of handling freedom of information, internal and external information sharing requests, advice and policy and assist with privacy and data protection. You will fundamentally focus on preparing for full designation under FOIA and provide high quality, solutions-focused legal advice on a wide variety of legal issues in relation to the performance of the organisation's functions. You will support and advise on regulatory operations and decisions, including drafting and amending Board and Committee papers.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4yrs PQE and be a UK qualified Lawyer or Barrister with in-depth expertise in FOIA and information-handling / privacy (GDPR). Ideally, you will have previous experience gained from a leading city law firm, authority, regulator or disciplinary body. You will be required to have a natural ability to present to and servicing senior executives and non-executives. For this opportunity, you must have excellent written communication and relationship management skills and work well under pressure and to deadlines.
