COMMERCIAL LITIGATION - LEGAL DIRECTOR/PARTNER

Our client is a Top 50 brand with trans-Atlantic footprint, and provides a full range of services to commercial clients, acting on some of the most high profile litigation matters across the UK - they have a really diverse client base across a range of sectors in including retail, transport and energy.

As part of ensuring that they provide the optimum service to their clients, they are looking to recruit a number of litigation lawyers for their Commercial Disputes team nationally, but more specifically they want to recruit at Legal Director or Partner level in Leeds with a view to succession planning for a partner retirement. The Leeds office has a small but busy CDR unit and this new recruit would head that team and be charged with growing it further. This is very much a key appointment for this brand in Leeds and so Legal Director or a lateral hire at Partner level would be appropriate.

Acting for large commercial clients on complex high quality work such as IT and Technology disputes, contract disputes and privacy disputes, you'll be busy with good quality work sourced from Yorkshire but also London and throughout the UK. Beyond your own caseload specifically at the Leeds site you'll be expected to supervise your team members, and develop business for the Leeds team. It is reckoned that suitable applicants will have upwards of 7yrsPQE so that technically they won't need supervision, and they'll have the confidence to target new business and will have ideas to contribute as regards developing the team on the Leeds site. Business devlopment will be important and so you'll need to be keen to undertake that, and for partner level candidates some professional network and track record of attracting work will be looked for.

Ideal candidates will be coming from a large city or national firm with a track record in commercial disputes work - this firm want a lateral hire in every sense of the word. Whilst this is an international brand it is not a huge team in Leeds and so they want an applied and pragmatic person, someone who has a 'can do' attitude and so strength of character and good communication skills are of paramount importance.
