Construction – Newly Qualified - Devon

Our Client, an award-winning law firm with a stellar reputation dating back hundreds of years, is looking to grow their Construction Team with the appointment of a Junior Lawyer in their Devon office.

As well as UK based work, our Client also has a significant international practice, representing clients based or doing business outside the UK on a whole range of matters covering projects, corporate deals, international disputes, trust administration, international funds, and commercial and residential property transactions.

The Team

Headed up by several partners recognised as leaders in the field, their experienced and highly respected Construction and Engineering team advises regional, national and international clients on a wide range of issues at all stages, from the outset of a project through procurement and beyond. Clients include developers, main contractors, project managers, members of the professional design team, funders and public sector authorities (at both local and central government level).

The Role

Whilst initially concentrating on contentious work (including litigation, adjudication and mediation), the successful candidate will be expected to undertake a mix of both contentious and non-contentious construction work.

You will from the outset be given the opportunity to work directly with clients on some of the leading national and regional projects across a broad range of sectors including central and local government, health, and renewables. Work will include; drafting building contracts and associated sub-contracts; complete development agreements; project monitoring and dispute avoidance, participating in cross department work with the national Projects, Property or Energy team as required, and maintaining regular contact with the client.

Candidate

As the successful candidate you should have a real passion for construction work. Ideally you should have a degree of experience as a newly qualified Solicitor or competed the relevant seat during your training. A good academic record is required, as is the desire to business develop, which will include attending marketing and networking events and assisting with the preparation of seminars and relevant news articles.
