Interim Head of Legal

Leading research charity are seeking an interim Head of Legal for up to 5 months, £65,000

A UK leading research charity, who have recently merged with another charity, are now able to carry out even more world-class research, providing life-changing support and campaigning even more effectively for better services and care. This is an exciting time to join the charity and Legal team. As part of this Directorate, you will help provide professional support services which enables the Charity to work towards achieving its strategic objectives through legal compliance and business planning. There is a current need for an interim Head of Legal.

Your new role
As Head of Legal, you will be responsible for Legal and Compliance matters within the Charity. You will provide an effective and comprehensive in-house legal service to internal stakeholder clients with the support of the Legal Counsel and the fundraising compliance team and offer professional guidance and support to the Legal Counsel. This role works across all Directorates (Fundraising, Research and Communications and Engagement as well as Finance and Corporate Services) and involves participating in and being an active member of the Wider Leadership Team (WLT). Finally, you will be play a leading role in the Data Protection Compliance team as subject matter expert.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you should be a qualified UK Lawyer with at least 4+ years PQE in commercial and contract law. You should be experienced in giving pragmatic advice, working with clients in a regulated environment and have experience of Data Protection compliance. You do not necessarily need to have worked in a charity before but you must be able to demonstrate an interest in charities. Finally, you should have experience of managing other team members and have the ability to nurture and develop relationships with management and junior colleagues. This role is for an immediate start and requires a supporting statement.
