The team

Based in London, the firm's European investment funds team works seamlessly with lawyers across the firm's practice areas, providing clients with a local perspective and top-tier global resources that span industries and legal disciplines. The diverse fund manager client base includes 18 of the top 50 hedge fund managers in Europe and 38 of the top 50 in the United States.

Widely recognised for its market-leading offerings in the alternative funds sector, the team advises clients on the broad scope of issues faced by hedge funds, their managers, sponsors and boards, spanning a wide range of fund strategies, including distressed debt, credit, fixed-income, managed futures, event-driven equity, long/short equity, global macro, currency and managed account structures.

The role

The team provides UK and EU advice to alternative asset managers and hedge fund sponsors on a variety of complex matters covering:

-Fund formation and structuring of hedge fund products (onshore and offshore) including alternative investment funds (AIFs), funds of one and managed accounts
-Public listing and offering arrangements in the EEA for the shares of AIFs
-Investor negotiations, including seed and acceleration capital deals for day-one and early-stage hedge fund managers
-Application of SEC Rules, ERISA, Investment Company Act, CFTC and other U.S. regulatory considerations for non-U.S. managers
-Prime brokerage, derivatives and trading documentation advice with an emphasis on counterparty risk and insolvency issues

The candidate

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious lawyer to join a highly regarded Investment Funds practice. The team seeks City-trained English qualified lawyers with excellent academics and at least 2 years' post qualified experience gained from a Magic Circle, top tier Silver Circle or US law firm.
