Senior Legal Counsel, Leeds
One of the UK's most high profile and recognised brands seeks an experienced commercial lawyer for a new in-house position in Yorkshire.
Working as part of a national in-house legal team, this is a great opportunity to work closely with a wide range of divisions in the group and take a leading role on a diverse range of commercial work. Current business practices allow lower value agreements to be handled closer to ground level, which has the knock-on effect of filtering more complex and high-risk matters such as large outsourcing contracts, group IT systems, and high value commercial agreements.
This in-house legal team has and uses a panel of external advisors, but this is very hands-on role rather than a panel/project management, and requires a commercial lawyer with strong contract negotiating and technical drafting skills.
The team are ideally looking for someone that has at least 5 years commercial PQE* and is comfortable advising on complex high value transactions. Some in-house experience is preferable, but that can be from a secondment, and any experience working with organisations in a regulated sector would be a distinct advantage.

In summary, the business is looking for someone that meets most of the following criteria:
- 5+ commercial PQE
- Previously worked in-house or gained experience working for a large commercial firm (UK top 100)
- Exposure to large IT, major outsourcing agreements and exposure to commercial work for a business in a regulated sector is preferable.
