We are currently working with a highly regarded national law firm which is looking for a Commercial/IP Partner to lead the development of the Commercial team in the firm’s largest office, on the South Coast. The commercial team advises on the full range of commercial contracts, including licensing, outsourcing, procurement, and, in particular, licensing. They also advise on a large number of IP issues.The team’s current clientele is varied, including high street banks, life sciences companies, charities, NHS trusts, universities and colleges, and gaming companies.
They would be keen to speak to individuals from a variety of backgrounds and specialism (e.g. media and entertainment) as adding new expertise to the team is paramount to its development. You would be given the freedom to develop the team along your own lines of interest, and would be very much autonomous (although with support from the other Partners).
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior associate looking to take a step up to Partner, whilst also escaping the City, and getting an extremely good work/life balance, or for an established Partner looking for a strong platform in a regional location. Flexible (including home working) is available and encouraged where possible for all employees.
Ideally you will have 9 plus years of post-qualification experience in Commercial and/or IP work gained at a well-regarded City or large regional firm. Proven success with business development and confidence being the face of the practice is essential. There is already work in the practice to takeover so a large following is not necessary (although it would be helpful), but a serious commitment to developing new and existing clients will be extremely important.
