CORPORATE PARTNER - LEEDS
Second partner for very busy team with a Top 60 brand which intends to grow its Leeds Corporate offering further a substantial opportunity.
Our client is ranked in the Top 60, but has a global footprint and full network of offices across the UK including London. They service an impressive list of plc's, large corporates as well as public sector clients, and with niche services to HNW individuals and non-profit organisations. They are frequently opposite higher ranked firms and so are very confident of the quality of their expertise.
Their Leeds office is a decent size though is not of comparable critical mass as some of the larger national brands in town. The consequence of this is a more collegiate environment and closer internal working relationships, and the chance for greater personal profile and visibility within the region and the firm.
The Corporate team in Leeds is busy, with a decent shape to it but with a structural space for a second Partner to share in the internal guidance of the unit and also the external business development work. Suitable candidates will likely already be at partner level (possibly Legal Directors wanting partnership) so as to have the profile and professional contacts expected of someone at the higher end of a team.
This might be someone who is still ambitious and climbing the career ladder and that enthusiasm and energy will be well directed in this role. Alternatively the firm would consider someone who has been at a high level for a number of years and who is now interested in an enjoyable engagement where your expertise and value can be appreciated without you having unduly onerous expectations such as you'd still experience in a Top 20 partnership role.
Adding another partner will add to the size of the team and its credibility in the market place, but also ideally it will be adding new work streams and intermediary contacts for the benefit of this unit. This team has a particular strength in Private Equity work so a candidate with that focus would likely need to be generating their work from outside of Yorkshire to have appeal. Otherwise partners in the region who are stronger in more general corporate work for plcs, private companies and non-PE clients would add a new dimension to the Leeds offering. Candidates looking to relocate themselves to Leeds but whose practice and client base may be elsewhere (including London) will definitely be considered on their merits.
This team has a positive culture, with a flexible mind set to the needs of its lawyers, and they appreciate that employees have lives outside of work. This progressive attitude is something they wish to preserve so a lateral hire will need to share this mind set.
The firm is fully committed to making this key appointment, and are able to move swiftly to bring an interested candidate into process. Initial discussion can be relatively informal so a suitable candidate can get a feel for the firm and the Leeds corporate unit before involving the national head of department or appointments committee.
Brooke Thornham Consulting advertisements use PQE levels purely as a guide to the level of experience required for the role and this does not prohibit applications from candidates who are able to demonstrate the necessary skills and experience. We aim to respond to enquiries as soon as possible but if we have not contacted you within 5 days then unfortunately on this occasion your application has not quite met the requirements of our client closely enough.
