Our client is a leading independent regulator responsible for promoting high-quality corporate governance. They now wish to hire an experienced Lawyer to advise on legal and governance issues and managing legal risk. The role will involve the making regulatory and operational decisions, including drafting and amending Board and Committee papers. Part of this role requires your line management of junior lawyer/paralegal/legal secondees and management of external legal spend and internal legal budget. The Role
You will work under the supervision of the Assistant General Counsel and work as part of an experienced team of lawyers where you will focus on specific legal advice and provide assistance across the regulatory and operational divisions of this well-regarded regulator. You will focus on regulatory and operational decisions, including drafting and amending Board and Committee papers. Part of this role requires your management of information-handling including and passage of information within and outside the organisation. You will oversee Data Protection matters and Freedom of Information requests including issues arising out of Brexit. You will the draft and implement the maintenance of regulatory and operational procedures, policies and guidelines. Part of this role requires your line management of junior lawyer/paralegal/legal secondees and management of external legal spend and internal legal budget.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5yrs PQE and be a UK qualified Lawyer or Barrister with expertise in public/regulatory law within information and operational legal issues and governance matters. Ideally, you will have previous experience gained from a leading city law firm, authority, regulator or disciplinary body. You will be required to have a natural ability to present to and servicing senior executives and non-executives. For this opportunity, you must have excellent written communication and relationship management skills and work well under pressure and to deadlines.
