About Our Client
The Commercial Directorate within Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust) is responsible for making profits that go directly back into our NHS Clinical Services. This allows the Trust to diversify its income away from core NHS funding streams as well as to enhance our clinical, educational and research expertise. The Commercial Directorate has a wide portfolio of activities including private patients, international healthcare, intellectual property and commercial research, commercial education, NHS business development and retail services
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Contracts, the post-holder will be required to provide legal and contracting professional expertise to Senior Trust managers, both within the Commercial Directorate and across the Trust.
In addition the role requires working with the wider group of senior Trust stakeholders.
The responsibilities with this role are as follows:
- Authoring of contracts;
- Reviewing and interpreting contracts;
- Involvement in contract negotiations;
- Contract approval/due diligence;
- Contract Execution;
- Continued oversight or effective handover of all live Commercial Contracts; and
- Contract Renewal.
Optimising commercial contract management within the Trust requires an understanding of the strategy, policies and business practices of the Trust and an ability to reflect these in the contracts the Trust enters into.
The Successful Applicant
The Commercial Department of the Trust is looking for a dynamic solicitor qualified in England & Wales or another common law jurisdiction with up to 10 years post qualification experience* in a commercial setting (nb: references to PQE is for guidance only and all levels of PQE will be considered).
Experience working in or with the health care and or public sector(s) is desirable but is not a pre-requisite.
