Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Contracts and based at Guy's Hospital near London Bridge, the role holder will be required to engage actively with the various clinical directorates and provide professional support for commercial contracting activities ranging from business case development, negotiations with contracting parties and execution and management of agreements to involvement in strategy and contract renewals.
The role holder will work alongside the Business Development function within the Commercial department, a significant part of whose work is competitive tendering. In addition there is the need to provide professional contracting support to the other groups within the Commercial Department: Intellectual Property, Commercial, Education and Private Patients.
Specific requirements within the role are as follows:
- Reviewing and interpreting contracts (as required and accessing legal support if needed)
- Involvement in contract negotiations (as required and accessing legal support if needed)
- Contract approval/due diligence
- Contract execution
- Document management
- Obligations management
- Continued oversight or effective handover of all live Commercial Contracts
- Contract renewal
Optimising commercial contract management within the Trust requires an understanding of the strategy, policies and business practices of the Trust and an ability to reflect these in the contracts the Trust enters into.
The Successful Applicant
The Commercial Department of the Trust is looking for a professional with proven contract management experience (ideally 5 years+ although all levels of experience will be considered) who can also demonstrate experience and expertise in a commercial environment. Ideally the role holder will be legally qualified. Guy's & St Thomas's has a varied and ambitious commercial agenda and the individual will be able to interact with and coordinate senior professionals to drive forward an agenda that is at the heart of developing the service to patients in an evolving NHS landscape.
Experience working in or with the healthcare and or public sector(s) will be welcomed but is not a pre-requisite.
