Job Details
Taylor Root requires an experienced planning lawyer to oversee the workload of the planning practice in a leading global firm on an ongoing interim basis. Working across three broad categories of work you will be responsible for managing the following areas:
- Transaction support
- Project consents
- Litigation
On most day to day transactions the senior planning role is supervisory with associates undertaking most of the work which are typically led by either the real estate, real estate finance or energy finance and M&A teams.
Project consenting advice is usually led at a senior level with junior support as and when necessary, depending on the scale of development. From day to day this involves advisory work to clients on strategy as well as detailed aspects of procedure, law and policy. Occasionally you might be asked to audit planning application documents including environmental impact assessments.
Planning related litigation accounts for no more than 5-10% of the workload from time to time and includes planning appeals, planning judicial review and compulsory purchase compensation claims.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate significant experience managing within the planning department of a leading City firm.
