This is an outstanding inhouse opportunity based in Uxbridge, Middlesex for a Marketing Legal Counsel with at least 7 years PQE to join a market leading brand. A media and entertainment lawyer would also be considered for this role given the requirements of the position.

The Firm

Our client is one of the largest and most recognised drinks brands in the FMCG sector, operating in every Continent on the globe. As well as their consumer goods they have one of the strongest brands in the market, operating through numerous sponsorship and advertising campaigns.

The parent company of this brand is part of a NASDAQ listed entity. As part of their rapid expansion, they are looking to recruit more legally trained professionals to work in conjunction with their stakeholders across multiple areas.

The Role

The team are hiring a Marketing Legal Counsel with at least 7 years' experience. We are seeking an inhouse lawyer already carrying out a similar role or an experienced Media and Entertainment lawyer looking to go inhouse, to manage the marketing legal function of the whole EMEA region of this leading global company.

You will be the lead Marketing Counsel working closely with the Global Legal team and the EMEA Marketing team. You will also partner with other areas of the business including Sales, Trade Development, HR, Finance and support the marketing and promotion of the brand.

Duties will include drafting, reviewing and negotiating various contracts including sponsorship agreements, IP license agreements, brand partnership agreements, media agreements, promotion terms and conditions and music licenses.

You will provide advice to the marketing team and business generally where appropriate and determine the need for and deliver legal service related to commercial claims, litigations and proceedings.

A part of the role will also involve representing the business in its discussion with the holders of Intellectual Property rights, commercial rights, media rights and music rights across all sectors and giving advice on legal risks of marketing proposals across EMEA region.

This is a stand out opportunity that comes with significant responsibility. Experience of the FMCG sector would be an advantage but they will consider candidates from a variety backgrounds where skills are transferable.

Requirements

  • You will be a qualified Solicitor with at least 7+ years' experience.
  • Experience in media, IP and music law.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, especially listening skills.
  • Drafting, reviewing and advising on commercial contracts.
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility for their performance and high curiosity about the business
  • Ability to travel throughout EMEA as required for the business
  • Provide legal guidance to the commercial managers of the business.
  • Experience in commercial negotiations.

Salary is competitive plus an excellent benefits package depending on experience.
