The busy and profitable Employment team at this top 40 firm has a broad spread of work; both contentious and non-contentious for private sector clients and senior execs.  The Partners are now keen to speak to senior Employment lawyers with a similarly generalist practice to assist with the growth and development of the team and department.

Ideally, you should have experience of advising sophisticated clients on complex matters, and could be coming from a contentious or non-contentious background (though most people here are ambidextrous) and probably coming from an established firm (whether that be City based or elsewhere). The firm is not looking to buy turnover, nor does it need to, but is obviously keen to meet those with a strong client network.

Save for a steady stream of very senior execs this is mainly an employer practice with a good spread of well-known corporate and financial services clients. You will join a department which provides mainly standalone employment advice to its own clients but also has the infrastructure to support impressive transactional departments such as property, corporate and banking.

This firm is well known for its collegiality and has an impressive rosta of partners throughout the business from other top firms - attracted by both the culture and quality of work. New lateral partners are given a lot of ‘onboarding’ support from the partnership and plenty of time to bed in, develop clients, cross-referral networks and prove their value.

There is plenty of progression on offer at the firm and equity either from Day 1 or in the near term depending on expectations on each side. Management responsibilities, too, for those who want to get involved.

The firm has had stable growth in turnover and profit in recent years and this department is always a strong performer; it is well managed and with a compensation framework that encourages team working and sharing.
