One of the oldest standalone Data Protection practices in the City is looking for both contentious and non-contentious lawyers due to a substantial growth in client demand.
On the non-contentious side, the vast majority of the work would be advising technology clients on the full range of data protection issues. However, there will be some work advising clients in the firm’s other key sector areas.
For contentious lawyers, this is one of the few city firms, with a dedicated cyber security/breach response team. The team acts for a wide range of corporates, including telecommunication companies, insurers, financial services, and retailers who have been the victims of a data breach or cyberattack. The contentious side of the practice alone has a turnover of £1.6m, increased from £250k just three years ago.
There is a clear path to partnership as the team expects to grow significantly going forward and will require partners who are capable of leading the development of the team in the future. The practice has a prominent position within the firm and these hires are a result of sustained growth and investment. The practice has their own marketing team and budget, demonstrating the firm’s commitment.
Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of experience advising on either non-contentious or contentious data-protection matters, the firm would also be open to considering individuals who are looking for a role which would combine the two.
The firm is very flexible when it comes to work/life balance and is happy to consider individuals who are looking for a four-day week or a working from home arrangement. The firm has invested substantially in technology to support flexible and agile working; they also have a ‘return to work’ scheme for those returning from a career break to help them brush up on their skills and technical knowledge.
