Hedge Fund Junior Legal and Investor Relations
John Street Capital is a rapidly growing quantitative investment firm based in central London. The investment team is made up of ex Goldman Sachs and Winton Capital employees. The team has won multiple awards in recognition of its performance. Whilst already managing more than $1.6bn of AUM, the team is still small, retaining a friendly, dynamic, and informal start-up culture. This new role comes from growth in the business.
This dual-role will involve helping with both the legal and investor-relations aspects of the business. This role would suit someone with 2-5 years of post-qualification Fund-Legal experience who is looking to move in-house and to broaden their role.
As a newer manager with a smaller team we value people that have the aptitude to perform broader roles encompassing multiple areas of responsibility. The candidate will be rewarded with high levels of responsibility and significant scope for career progression in an intellectually stimulating & professional environment.
The legal aspect of the job would involve working with external legal counsel and compliance support to set-up fund structures, amend fund documentation, and manage the impact of regulatory changes on the business.
The investor-relations aspect would include supporting the sales effort whilst being the point person for all things client-service related. This would include acting as a point of contact for all clients on non-investment matters, generally contribute to the asset raising & retaining effort. Some travel to investor conferences and meetings would also be a feature.
Progression in the role could come in several ways, including progression on the legal side to the role of General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer or on the business-side to the head of IR/Business-Development.
Skills and Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in legal role, ideally in fund-legal
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organisation skills
- Understanding of the Business Development capability, commercially minded
- Ideally one or more foreign languages spoken
