Job Details

"Regarded as top in the market for private client work" (Chambers High Net Worth Guide 2018) our tier 1 Private Client and Wealth Structuring team enjoys an excellent reputation throughout the country, with both national and international clients. We advise clients on tax and estate planning, offshore tax planning, corporate tax etc.

Work

Our Probate and Trust Management team advise executors and trustees on the proper administration of estates and trusts.

On the probate side we deal with a wide variety of estates involving:

• Estates of varying sizes which often include claims for BPR or APR and on occasion, heritage asset conditional exemption.
• Cross-border estate work, including liaising with lawyers in other jurisdictions.
• Dispute resolution questions involving probates – including working closely with our dispute resolution lawyers.
• Tax compliance, including not only Inheritance Tax but Income and Capital Gains Tax matters for the personal representatives.

On trust management we cover all aspects:

• Administering trust assets.
• Making income and capital distributions.
• Maintenance of accounting records and preparation of annual trust accounts.
• Monitoring investment management performance.
• Completion of annual tax returns and making tax payments.
• Inheritance tax compliance.
• Preparation of beneficiaries` income tax certificates.
• Attendance at trustees` meetings and liaising with professional advisers.
• Change of trustees.

Trust management services are provided for all types of trusts including interest in possession, discretionary, 18–25 and will trusts.

Requirements

Relevant previous experience is vital. STEP, AAT, ATT or law degree (or other degree plus a GDL) qualification would be useful but not essential.

Basic accounting experience in probate and trust management is required, preferably CCH Trust accounts and Pertax, although Troika or Isokon would also be advantageous.

We also look for strong academics together with evidence of good quality training and relevant experience gained within a firm well-regarded for Private Client work.

We`re committed to finding the right person for this role and are open to discussing flexible working patterns.
