Job Details

Leicester City Football Club, based at the King Power Stadium in Leicester, has enjoyed an enviable period of success, culminating in the Club becoming the 2015-2016 Premier League Champions. Its on-field success has led to a rapid growth in the Club’s business and it is now seeking to appoint a talented and experienced UK qualified lawyer as its General Counsel.

The General Counsel is an important strategic appointment and the successful candidate will be part of the Club’s senior management and will report directly to the Club’s CEO. The General Counsel will be responsible for all of the Club’s commercial legal work including all property, media, sponsorship licensing and other commercial contracts, player and player trading contracts, all IP matters, regulatory and governance work, and dispute resolution issues. The successful candidate will also be expected to appoint and appropriately manage external counsel when necessary.

Applicants should benefit from excellent academics, leading law firm training and at least 10 years’ relevant commercial law post-qualification experience. Experience gained working in-house is beneficial although it is not a pre-requisite and the successful candidate may come from either in-house or private practice.  It is essential that the General Counsel is comfortable interacting with a business at all levels, has a grounded personality and is commercially focused.
