LEGAL COUNSEL – CORPORATE, 1-3 YEARS’ PQE +, LONDON

This is an incredible opportunity for a corporate lawyer to make the move in house relatively early on in their career and undertake a superb range of matters. As the most junior member of the corporate part of the wider legal team, you will working alongside a senior corporate lawyer, whose role will be to mentor you. The role will be very exciting and you will support the senior lawyer and General Counsel on M&A transactions, joint ventures and investments across a range of international territories. You will also assist with integrating targets into the Group post acquisition. You may also be expected to work with the company secretary, tax and finance teams on corporate structuring and global corporate compliance. There will also in time be the opportunity to help get involved with the executive committee, so you will be able to help shape the strategy of the company as legal is always involved with the deals from very initial stages. This is quite a unique opportunity.

Prior exposure to media transactions could be very helpful due to the nature of the deals and also understanding the culture of the business (which isn’t overly formal), but it is not a pre-requisite. You must however be willing to pitch in and undertake a range of work as both the General Counsel and Senior Counsel have previously had to pick up whatever has been necessary to do the role and they will be hoping to  find someone with a similar ‘can do’ attitude to theirs. Personality is key as the whole of the legal team is very easy to get along with. Everyone is very welcoming, down to earth and generally there is a great team spirit amongst them. Although they have all come from the City, there are no huge egos and everybody is clearly excited about the business and where it is heading, so they are looking for someone who will fit into this culture.
