What you'll be doing…

Here at PPL we are proud to operate in a genuine, open and straightforward way while continuing to maximise all opportunities as they arise striving to represent PPL's members. Our job is to protect our members' rights, and make sure their talent and investment is rewarded fairly. We take an entrepreneurial approach, working together to create new ways to deliver better service and solve business challenges. Collaboration creates great things; everyone's talent deserves recognition and each of our members is important to us. We are the professional face for our clients. We serve with a smile and go the extra mile when representing them. We share a passion for music - that's why we do what we do.

In this position you will join a small, well-established and high calibre legal team at PPL based in Central London. You will be working alongside two other Legal & Business Affairs Executives and assisting the team's senior lawyers, to support the Head of Legal & Business Affairs. Day-to-day tasks will include a mixture of taking primary responsibility for certain matters and working together with other members of the Legal and Business Affairs team on a broad range of other matters.

Whilst IP, in particular copyright, is at the heart of the organisation, the role covers a broad range of work from licensing and general commercial contracts to technology- and litigation-related matters. This can include drafting and negotiating licences and other agreements for licensees or advising on the development of new or revised licensing models. As PPL is also a data-driven business, collaborating with a range of industry partners, you will also provide legal support to various commercial transactions, policy matters and technology initiatives. In addition, you will advise on membership-facing issues, general corporate/regulatory matters and, where applicable, High Court and Copyright Tribunal cases.

As part of an in-house team which is closely integrated with the rest of the organisation (providing business affairs support in addition to core legal advice), you will play an important role in helping the team to manage internal client relationships, delivering professional results and a high level of customer service.

What you'll need…

· You must have completed or be about to complete your legal training contract, and you may have up to two years' post-qualification experience.

· Experience in general commercial contracts, licensing, IP (with copyright experience particularly desirable) and/or litigation.

· Prior in-house experience would be very advantageous and, whilst not essential, broadcast, technology or music industry experience would also be beneficial.

· You must have a genuine interest in the music industry and be passionate about the work PPL does.

· You will be expected to gain a deep understanding of the organisation and how it fits into the industry.

· You will be a strong communicator and enjoy working in multi-disciplinary teams, and finding creative solutions.

What we have to offer…

When you come on board at PPL you can expect to be competitively rewarded for your hard work. In addition to what we offer in terms of salary, bonus scheme and pension, employees are entitled to a wide range of benefits which support their lifestyles and needs. You will also be joining a group of people who are proud to represent our members, who strive to maximise every opportunity, and who
