Experienced Lawyer For First Time Appointment
Our client is a leading financial services company. It is growing rapidly and listed recently. The company has achieved significant year on year growth since it was established shortly after the GFC and has ambitious plans to maintain that in the years ahead.
The business has reached the point where there is an excellent opportunity for an entrepreneurial and ambitious lawyer to join as the first lawyer. Reporting to the COO and working closely with the senior management team, you will get involved in managing all the legal affairs which underpin the business, as well as providing advice from a legal perspective on strategic and commercial decisions which will drive the business forward. This will include a whole plethora of issues, from drafting and negotiating documents relating to products, the growth of the international network, financial services regulation and day to day legal and commercial advice.
The company is open to an experienced lawyer coming in to start this role on a part-time basis as part of a portfolio, but with the hope that the role will develop significantly. You will be dealing with a range of corporate, finance and commercial issues and it will be helpful if you have a grasp of the financial services sector and its regulation, as well as company secretarial and corporate governance matters. Our client is also making good use of technology, so some knowledge of IT contracts, SLAs and Service Agreements would be useful as it develops this aspect of the business. In short, you will be taking responsibility for spearheading how legal risk is managed during an exciting phase of the company’s growth.
This is an outstanding opportunity to get in early at a growth company and there are significant opportunities for progression. Our client is looking for an ambitious and business-minded lawyer who has the credibility and personality to fit in to the business and get on with people across the board. Competitive remuneration is on offer as well as the potential for an equity interest.
