Are you looking for a new challenge? Do you want more flexibility without compromising on the quality and variety of the work you undertake? Then this opportunity to join Sheffield City Council’s forward thinking, Lexcel Accredited Legal Service may be just what you have been looking for.
We are looking for creative-thinking, versatile and passionate Lawyers to join our busy Commercial Team. You will have the opportunity to take on a varied and interesting commercial case load, including (but not limited to) advising on Council procedures, state aid/grant funding, procurement and contracting and project work. In-depth knowledge of all those areas is not essential (the Person Specification for the post was revisited in November 2018 and now reflects this) but you must have generally good technical knowledge and commercial awareness as well as a willingness to learn and adapt to new types of work.
Applicants must be organised and able to work to deadlines under pressure. They must be able to work with minimal supervision, but still be able to contribute to the wider team. Applicants must have strong communication skills and a passion for providing a good service to clients. The post is open to qualified solicitors, barristers and Fellows of ILEX.
In return for your skills, knowledge and commitment you can expect a rewarding career in the UK's greenest city, within an organisation that recognises the importance of work/life balance and that offers a range of attractive benefits and a friendly and supportive work environment.
The available posts are full-time, permanent vacancies. However, we welcome applications from people who want to work part-time and can be flexible about working pattern.
For further information or to discuss suitability on an informal basis, please contact Sarah Bennett on 0114 20 53127.
Please see the council website at www.sheffield.gov.uk to apply
We are committed to fairness and social justice and welcome applications from everyone. We value our diverse workforce and aim to work together to make the most of our differences.
