Planning and Environmental Associate sought for leading international law firm.
The Team
The team act for a wide domestic and international client base including developers, investors, landlords, financiers and occupiers. Their presence in many jurisdictions means that they are able to capitalize on the wave of inward investment characterising the UK market. The team has experienced strong growth in its range of clients and quality of instructions and commands a highly respected profile in the industry.
The Role
An Associate in the Environment, Safety and Planning Team in the London office. The role entails working within a specialist team providing stand-alone regulatory and compliance advice (civil and criminal litigation), defence of prosecutions and licensing and permitting issues/appeals as well as providing transactional support to the energy, mining and infrastructure and real estate teams.
The successful candidate should have a broad range of experience gained in the UK and enjoy working as part of a specialist team. The opportunity will expose the successful candidate to cutting edge and high profile transactions, international client base and all within a collegiate and vibrant team.
Skills and Experience Required
To be considered for this role, you will be a mid-level lawyer with experience in a planning/environment team at a City or national firm is required including broad experience in the following areas:
Environment: Regulatory advice on licensing/permitting, criminal prosecutions, judicial review and/or civil claims. Experience in energy and infrastructure projects would be helpful.
Safety: Incident response and investigations, defence of criminal prosecutions, Coroner's Inquests, occupational health, policies and risk assessments. This will also include product safety and recall.
Planning: Advice on all aspects of the consenting process for development projects including Environmental Impact Assessment, negotiating planning and infrastructure agreements, advice on national and local planning policy, judicial review; experience of compulsory purchase, land assembly and compensation.
