The Role
We are looking for an experienced lawyer to join us at an exciting time of expansion for Brooke. The main responsibilities will be to advise on and negotiate a very wide range of commercial contracts, with the main focus being on fundraising and technology contracts. Other key contracts will be with Brooke’s business partners, other NGOs and charities, and other organisations with whom Brooke works.
The role can be flexible to permit you to broaden your experience of advising a leading charity.
Criteria
You will need to have a law degree and extensive experience of working at a senior level within a legal department, advising on and negotiating commercial contracts. We are keen to hear from people who are already in-house or those who are looking to make their first move in-house.
Commercially minded, you will have excellent experience in advising on legal risks, actions to take to mitigate those risks, and negotiation strategies. You will take the initiative to keep up-to-date with new areas of law and identify any impact on Brooke.
About Us
Brooke has launched its ambitious new five-year global strategy following a sustained period of outstanding growth in improving the health and wellbeing of working horses, donkeys and mules across the world.
We have achieved this by engaging effectively with communities for better welfare, treatment and veterinary services and through the successful lobbying of key global players to change policy and practice for the mutual benefit of both the animals and their owners – the millions of people whose livelihoods depend on them.
Brooke currently reaches 2 million working animals benefitting 12 million people.
We actively recruit talented individuals who can bring their professional expertise to a growing organisation which prides itself on being a leading animal welfare INGO operating across a growing number of countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia.
In Return
Not only will you play a vital role in improving the health and wellbeing of working horses, donkeys and mules across the world, you will enjoy a benefits package comprising 25 days’ annual leave, contributory pension scheme and life assurance.
Please note: As this role is offered on a part-time basis, please specify at the end of the supporting statement section of the online application the following:
- Your preferred working pattern; currently we have a need for someone to work on Fridays for part of the day at least
- Whether you have flexibility on this working pattern and if so, what other days/hours you could do.
Please note that CVs alone will not be considered.
Closing date: 20 November 2018.
The Brooke is an equal opportunities employer.
